Especially in patients who have had previous nose surgery, when sufficient cartilage cannot be provided, cartilage can be removed from behind the ear or from the ribs.

Before Nose Surgery

If you have any medications, allergies or any other disease, be sure to inform your doctor. Your doctor will take your pre-operative photographs. In the light of the information obtained from your examination and photographs, your surgery will be planned for the problems specific to your nose. This photography process will be repeated at 3 months and 1 year after surgery. Anesthesiologists will examine whether there is any obstacle to receiving anesthesia before the surgery.

In the 15 days before the surgery, do not use any medications (especially aspirin and painkillers), do not smoke or drink alcohol without your doctor's knowledge. It is very useful to cut the hair inside the nose the evening before the surgery day. Since you cannot take a bath for a few days after the surgery, you should take a shower the evening before the surgery. Eating and drinking is allowed until 12 o'clock in the evening before the surgery.

After Nose Surgery

To minimize swelling and bruising around the nose, ice will be applied to this area within the first 24 hours after surgery. After the surgery, you will stay in the hospital for 1 day. Surgery-related bruising may occur on the sides of the nose and around the eyes to varying degrees from patient to patient. These bruises heal within 3 weeks. During the 2 weeks after the surgery, you should sleep in a 45-degree semi-sitting position in bed. If you have stitches in the lower-middle part of your nose, apply antibiotic pomade over them. Prevent nasal congestion by frequently inhaling water into your nose. Do not forcefully blow the water you snort, lean over the sink and let it drain on its own. You should avoid eating foods that require chewing, talking unnecessarily, and chewing gum until the bandages on your nose are removed. The external mold on your nose will be removed after 8 days.

It is natural for crusting in the nose and nasal congestion for a few weeks after the surgery, do not worry. You should avoid sneezing, coughing and blowing your nose for the first 3 weeks. When you go home, you can take a bath with warm water. To do this, you can go into the bathroom and wash your body yourself, and then with the help of someone else, you can wash your hair without wetting the bandage on your nose.

These undesirable conditions, which may occur in 5% of patients in the world literature, can be corrected with minor interventions approximately 9 months after the surgery.
